｢僕はジブリや『君の名は。』のような美しいアニメをみて、日本に憧れを抱いてやってきた。でも現実は違った｣
これはヨーロッパから日本に留学している20代の男性の言葉だ。
留学生たちと話すと、私が日本人ということもあって、まずは口をそろえて日本の｢良いところ｣を教えてくれる。
が、少し仲良くなると日本で生活することへの｢違和感｣を口にし出す。
冒頭で紹介した｢日本のアニメに憧れて来日した｣というヨーロッパからの留学生は、｢もちろん親切な日本人は多い｣と前置きしたうえで、｢常にイライラしている人もいるし、それを周囲にまき散らす人もいる｣と言って、こう続けた。
｢日本のアニメと同じように、実際の日本には何でもあった。でもアニメと違って、現実社会には愛がない。
母国は日本のように便利ではなかったけれど、人とのコミュニケーションのなかに、愛があふれていた。
日本人は、アニメで描いていたような愛を忘れてしまったのだろうか｣
